The Name's Marco

The Marco Cortesi centrepin that is.

After reading many positive comments and reviews especially over at the BFW site,I finally took the plunge and bought one of them.

First impressions?

Well for what this pin costs,it seems nothing short of superb,it seems very smooth and rotates freely for a long time, which is something that is very important whilst trotting.Admittedly whilst it might not be comparable to some of the top "Rolls Royce" centrepins,it doesn't sport some of the eye watering price tags that they do either.

I believe for any newcomer who wants to learn to master the joys and art of using a centrepin (myself) and for people looking for something where performance far outweighs price, this is a rather smart choice. I am rather looking forward to putting it to some use rolling some meat and trotting,as well as hopefully some spring Crucian fishing,Time will tell how well it lasts, but if it does age well then it will be money wisely spent.

  1. Hi Mark

I'd be interested to know if you get any wobble on this reel when it's spooling freely?

    regards

  2. Hello there Russ,

there is only a very slight amount of wobble, but very negligible amount.

Given what this pin costs £30 I would recommend it to you,if I presume correctly that your looking to buy a Cortesi?

    kind regards

  3. I bought one on your recommendation Mark! I had been looking at the debate on BFW in any case but I'm keen to learn to use a pin in the new season. The reel is fantastic as you say and until I can afford (or deserve) a Chris Lythe then it will do nicely. I'm very much a 'Mr Crabtree' style fisherman and my mantra is 'Keep it Simple'.

Looking forward to more of your blogs next season.

it's a little gem of a reel and all for the small sum of £30 a bargain no less, taking it out soon for its first proper outing after some ancient Crucians on a private lake.

  8. Thats exactly what I enjoy doing, every blogs author has their own unique style and twist on how they view things,as well as being a great source of info, which when shared can be most intriguing and helpful.

I can say safely say that it is like having a shelf full of piscatorial magazines at your disposal and very enjoyable too.

many thanks for the kind comments.
